Registration as a Professional Chemist in British
Columbia requires the educational qualification equivalent to a four- year undergraduate
chemistry degree (B.Sc. level), normally consisting of at least eight courses of two-term
duration each (lectures plus associated laboratory work) where a term is typically 3-4
months.
Registration as P.T.Chem. or R.T.Chem. in British
Columbia requires the educational qualification equivalent to a two- year diploma in
Chemical Technology or its equivalent, normally consisting of at least eight one-term
chemistry courses spread across the chemistry sub-disciplines where a term is typically 3-4
months.

Associate Member normally includes graduates of
recognized technology diplomas or certificate programs and suitable experience as determined
under Section 13.04 of the Society Bylaws
Student membership is open to students currently
enrolled in a BC university or college undergraduate chemistry program.
